It has been a wintry week with cold and snow. I’m enjoying it immensely. I laced up the skates on Saturday for some ice hockey with a bunch of teens at Fern Park. I kept up (barely), but could feel it in my legs the next couple days. On Monday, Sue and I went cross country skiing at the Inlet Golf Course – my first time in years. It was good reintroduction with an easy loop. I hope to tackle Fern Park before the end of winter but that terrain is a lot more demanding. I bought a fishing license yesterday and hope to try my hand ice fishing later this week at Limekiln. Every day is a new adventure.
I attached a picture of our sign. Believing that there is no better time to do outdoor electrical work in Inlet than in the dead of winter, this last week Ron Leszyk and George Philpott installed some lights to illumine our sign. What a difference it makes. When the sun goes down at 4:00 (well, maybe 5:00) our sign is still visible for the snowmobilers as they whiz by and the occasional car too. We hope to install a planter around the base in the spring and have a nice flower bed to make it even more attractive. All these noticeable improvements to our facility send a message to people that pass by.
Please keep the Hitchcock family in prayer. Many of you will already be aware of this, but Dan Hitchcock passed away suddenly on Friday, January 10. Even if the name isn’t familiar, you will recognize him as the owner of Dan’s Big M in Eagle Bay. Dan is survived by his wife, Heidi, and three young daughters. We’re looking for ways as a church to reach out to this family in days to come. But one initial way is to send a word of sympathy and the assurance of your prayers to the family. You can do so at www.dfwefh.com. Let’s let them know that the people of Inlet Community Church care about them and their grief.
Mark your calendar now. On Sunday, February 22 the worship choir of Northside Baptist Church from Liverpool, NY will be joining us for a night of worship at 6:30 pm. This is a night you will not want to miss. Plan to be here.
Have a wonderful week.
