The Cottage Policies & Information

Cottage Use Guidelines 2017

Purpose & Use of the Cottage: The cottage belongs to the Lord, and He has made it possible to be used for ministry here in Inlet. This third building on the property has therefore been set-aside for pastors, missionaries and Christian workers, to come aside and rest awhile. Our desire is to make the Cottage available to all who seek this rest.

Reservations: All reservations are made through Sue at 315-395-6774 or pandshuber@gmail.com. Reservations are limited to 1 full week (Saturday to Saturday) during peak summer months (June-August).  The Cottage will be unlocked when you arrive and a key will be provided for you with other information on the kitchen counter. In case of an emergency an extra key can be found in a magnetic key box under the propane tank outside.

Check-In: Saturday at 2:00 pm                     Check-Out: Following Saturday at 10:00 am

Directions: We are located within the boundaries of the Adirondack Park of upstate New York. Inlet is roughly 2:30 hours from Syracuse, 1:15 hours from Utica and 2:30 hours from Albany, NY. There are very few highways traversing the Adirondack Mountain area however Route 28 North passes directly through Inlet. From Route 28 North take a right onto South Shore Rd in the middle of “downtown” Inlet. Inlet Community Church is right up the hill on the right. The Cottage is the small white building located on the back right corner of our property passed the church building and adjacent to the parsonage. Caution: There are gas stations in most of the small towns along the way but not all are open 24 hours or year round. Please watch your fuel levels and fill up when appropriate.

Furnishings: The Cottage is furnished with one (1) queen, one (1) full and two (2) twin beds; kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker (and filters), dishes and utensils; vacuum cleaner, broom and plenty of dish rags and towels. There is also a limited supply of cleaning products, toilet paper and garbage bags. There is a small deck off the back of the Cottage with a gas grill. In the back there is also a picnic table, fire pit and sitting area. Grilling tools are hanging in the kitchen. Swing set and tire swing are open for Cottage use.

Bedding: Bedding is provided. There are extra sheets, blankets and comforters upstairs in the main bedroom closet.

Pets: There are no pets allowed at the cottage at any time. We are sorry for any inconvenience but the comfort of future guests with allergies and the longevity of the cottage furnishings and grounds require this policy.

Groceries and Supplies: Kalil’s Grocery is a small grocery store here in Inlet that will accommodate most of your food and supply needs. There is also an ACE Hardware. In Old Forge (10 miles away) is DiOrios (an IGA chain grocery store) as well as a Kinney Drug Store with a full pharmacy.

Garbage: All garbage must be placed in clear garbage bags provided for you under the kitchen sink. When the garbage is full, please tie the top and place it outside by the front corner pillar of the Cottage and it will be picked up the same day.

Recycling: We are required to recycle plastics #1 and #2, tin and aluminum cans and glass. Please remove the lids; rinse and place empty containers into the blue bin at the end of the counter in the kitchen. Paper, newspaper, magazines and cardboard can be recycled in the blue wastebasket marked for recycling in the kitchen. Please no wax coated paper products such as OJ cartons. If your basket becomes full during your stay please place it out by the corner pillar and we will empty it.

Boating/Dock: The steps and dock behind the parsonage belong to the church are available to you. On the dock you will find 2 kayaks (blue and yellow) and a canoe (maroon) that can be used as well as life jackets and paddles in the boathouse. Boat at your own risk. The dock is also a wonderful place to sit and read or just watch boats go by.

Cell Service: Cell service is very limited in Inlet. The parsonage has a cell extender as well as Inlet Town Hall and Matt’s Screamen Eagle on the corner of South Shore and Rt. 28. Basically if you walk into town you will be able to pick up a signal. The contracted service in the area is through Verizon Wireless. There is a landline phone on the wall in the dining area of the Cottage. This phone is set up for local calls only unless you use a calling card. Local numbers begin with 357, 369 and 354. We are in the area code region of 315.

Wifi/Internet: You will be able to pick up several wifi networks on your device. The church provides 2 open networks, “Frontier 4339” and “ICC-Ext”. “Motorola 90D9F_EXT” is an open signal from the parsonage. Also from the parsonage is “Linksys_Ext” with the password “Huber2016”. In town you will be able to pick up open signals at Matt’s Screamen Eagle, Kalil’s Grocery, the Inlet Public Library and the Town Hall.

First Aid! There is a basic First Aid Kit in the bathroom under the sink. For larger emergencies please find one of us or call 911. Your address is 8 South Shore Rd Inlet, NY 13360.  Cottage Phone: 315-357-6161.

Power Outages: It is VERY common for the area to lose power at any time of year. There are only so many power lines and transformers in the area. Accidents, fires, storms and overuse are a few of the many reasons for the power to go out. Many homes and businesses have generators that you will hear turn on. There is no need to worry. Power is typically restored within a few hours. If you have a problem, please find one of us or call us at a number below.

Donations: As God continues to bless Inlet Community Church the Cottage can be provided to you free of charge. We trust God will supply all that we need to do His work but if the Lord is leading you to contribute to this work please leave any donations in a church envelope paper clipped to the front pocket of this binder. Thank you in advance for blessing us with your presence and your gift.

Upon Departure: New guests will arrive the afternoon that you depart. There is a short turn around time. We ask your assistance with some tasks before you leave:

  • Wash all dirty dishes and put away.
  • Wipe down the table and counters.
  • Return furniture to their original positions.
  • Place all soiled rags, towels, sheets and pillowcases in the bathroom hamper.
  • Check the shower for any toiletries left behind.
  • Check the refrigerator and freezer for any leftover food.
  • Sweep the kitchen and vacuum any floors that need it.
  • Leave kitchen garbage and recycling. We will come get it.
  • Leave the key with the black binder on the counter or table.
